Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is a mental illness that can affect approximately 2 out of 100 people. Bipolar disorder is a brain disease in which an alteration of the biochemical mechanisms that regulate emotions and mood. People who suffered with Bipolar disorder experience unusual changes in mood, perception of energy and behavior. This is not a flaw of character, a personal weakness or something that can be solved independently. The "ups" and "downs" are different from those experienced by most people. They are called phases of mania or depression and can become severe enough to require hospitalization. Bipolar disorder affects both sexes and usually begins in adolescence stage.

Typically, bipolar disorder is progressive and is not limited to a single episode. 90% of patients with bipolar disorder may experience manic episodes and depressive recurring during their life.

Causes of Bipolar Disorder:

The actual causes of bipolar disorder are still not known. Genetic, biological, psychological and socio-environmental factors are concerned as causes for Bipolar Disorder. The symptoms and the treatments of Bipolar disorder are different for each.

There are generally two causes for Bipolar disorder
  • Genetic Factors
  • Biological Factors

Treatment of Bipolar Disorder:

Bipolar Disorder can be treated in different ways. Bipolar disorder has different kind of symptoms which vary from person to person; hence type of treatment also varies from person to person. The diagnostics of Bipolar disorder in complex and carried out on certain levels.
